Why Chiniguchi River Chain?
The Chinguchi river system is a long water way that connects many lakes in Northern Ontario. The whole system is a major canoe route with good road access points. Three of the lakes on this water system are Maskinonge Lake, Washagami Lake and Murray Lake. There is a portage required to travel from one lake to the next as they are separated by a dam at both ends of Washagami Lake.
Maskinonge Lake is a popular fishing destination for Lake Trout and Walleye in the summer and also for ice fishing in winter.
Washagami Lake is approximately 8 miles long and ranges from 3 - 20 ft in depth. The lake has Smallmouth Bass, Walleye and Northern Pike to test your fishing skills. Murray lake is aproximately 5 miles long and up to 70 ft deep.
Murray Lake flows into Lower Murray and into the Sturgeon River. You can fish for Smallmouth Bass, Northern Pike, Walleye and Muskellunge. Both Washagami Lake and Murray Lake have been stocked with Walleye in 2007.
